Wisdom Teeth Removal in Espanola
Wisdom Teeth, Simplified
Understanding When (and Why) Removal Is Needed
Wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to come in — usually between ages 17 and 25. For some people, they grow in without any issues. But for many, there isn’t enough space in the mouth, or the teeth come in at an angle. That’s when problems can start.
At Espanola Dental Centre, we evaluate your wisdom teeth using digital imaging and walk you through what we see. If removal is the best option, we’ll explain every step and make sure you feel comfortable moving forward.
Why Remove Wisdom Teeth?
We may recommend removing wisdom teeth if:
They’re impacted (trapped under the gums)
They’re partially erupted and hard to clean
They’re pushing on other teeth and causing crowding
They’re leading to pain, infection, or decay
There’s not enough space in the jaw to support them
Even if your wisdom teeth aren’t causing symptoms now, early removal can sometimes prevent bigger issues later on.
What To Expect During Removal
We’ll start by reviewing your X-rays and answering your questions. On the day of your procedure, we’ll make sure the area is completely numb — and for more complex cases or anxious patients, oral sedation may be available.
Wisdom tooth removal is a routine procedure, and we take our time to do it carefully. Once complete, we’ll provide aftercare instructions to help you heal comfortably.
What To Expect Afterward
Some swelling, soreness, or mild bleeding is normal after removal. Most people recover within a few days, especially when following home care instructions. We’ll walk you through what to watch for and when to get in touch.
If your job or lifestyle requires downtime, we’ll help you plan for a smooth recovery.
